A Couple of Tra La Las

My roommate Ben has a friend who he told me has this theory about bartending. Whenever she wore her hair up, she made significantly less tips than when she wore it down. I was a little skeptical at first because I didn´t think that it would be noticeably significant.. maybe it was just a coincidence!

I also have a bit of a problem with serving food and drinks with my hair down because of the amount of hair I lose each day.. someone is bound to find one in their food and then I would feel really bad. Especially because I´ve had this germophobe mentality from the US drilled into me since I was little.

I decided to suck it up and try it.

Turns out, its completely true and if last night is any indicator, I will be wearing my hair down every shift for the rest of my time here.

Last night I worked for 2.5 hrs (really 3, but the last half hour I was cleaning and not making tips) and I made almost $40 in tips. I think I would make maximum 15-20$ before on a Saturday night and that was a longer shift and also before the 25% of our tips that we have to give to the bar backs.

I´m trying very hard to take my Grandpa´s advice and pay myself first, even out of my tips, because I could have some real money when I come back to the US if I´m smart about it.
