Pretty much every company has a Christmas party over the holiday season, but since I work for a bar, we have to work through everyone else´s Christmas party. This means that, finally, on January 16th, we get to have our own!! We are going to be on a boat, cruising around the harbor, open bar, free food, for 8 hours. Yes, 8.
Because every party here in Sydney has to be a fancy dress party (aka costume party, for those of us that speak “American”), the theme this year for the party is high school cliches… I´m sorry, but I don´t think anyone wants to go back to high school and relive the cliques, the awkward stages etc.. So I decided to be a football player, hence me showing off my game face above.
I think the idea is really funny because in the rest of the world, they don´t have cheerleaders and, especially in Sydney, even public schools had to wear uniforms, so I´m thinking that they thought “jee won´t this be so fun and so far from what we know” when in fact, it is exactly my high school experience all at one time and all in one place.
Side note: I didn´t HATE high school… I just am glad I´m not there anymore, you know?
I don´t want to toot my own horn but the company I work for hires people to work for them based on looks more than anything so you can imagine how many beautiful people will be on that boat. With beauty comes competition (mainly for us ladies) and if we refer back to 2004, I think the movie “Mean Girls” says it best.
That is pretty much my expectation for the attire at the party. I chose football player because shorts and t-shirt can hardly be considered scantily clad :)
GAME TIME! x
